Rock Springs local guide
Rock Springs sits on I-80 in Sweetwater County, along Bitter Creek, with Green River about 15 miles west where the Green River crosses the interstate. Storage here is mostly outdoor yards on the edge of town: Self Assured and Bitter Creek Self-Storage on Purple Sage Road, White Mountain near the mall off exit 102, and Mountain West out on Gookin-White Mountain Road, all with 24-hour gated access.
Covered RV space is scarce, so most owners park in the open. The Rock Springs / Green River KOA Journey on Foothill Boulevard rents RV dry storage at $50 a month and 20x40 storage units at $275. West of Green River, VRK Storage (Old Adams Storage) lists 13x40 RV and trailer spaces at $35 a month with dump station use and a water fill included.
The big boating water is Flaming Gorge Reservoir to the south. From Green River, WY-530 runs about 25 miles to Buckboard Marina, which rents slips by the week, month or season, keeps secured dry storage for boats and camp trailers, and operates under an Ashley National Forest permit. Buckboard, Firehole and Anvil Draw are among the ramps listed below.
Street parking in neighborhoods is limited. Rock Springs ordinance 5-304 bars mobile homes, motor coaches, trailers and RVs from the public right-of-way in residential zones beyond 100 hours, and moving the vehicle to another spot does not restart the clock. The city's RV dump station at the Water Reclamation Facility on Sunset Drive is open 24 hours.
Every boat on Wyoming water must display an Aquatic Invasive Species decal, which costs $5 to $30 depending on the type of watercraft and where it is registered. Watercraft entering Wyoming also have to be inspected before they launch, so plan for a check station on the way to Flaming Gorge.
