What we collect
- Reviews: the name you choose to show, your rating and review text, an email address if you give one, and your browser’s user-agent string (to help spot spam). Your name, rating and text are published after approval; your email is never shown.
- Owner claims, edit requests and listing suggestions: your name, email address, optional phone number and role, your message, and the business details you send.
- Spam prevention: when you submit any of the forms above we store a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) with your submission, to limit repeat submissions and help spot spam. Rate-limit records older than 24 hours are deleted automatically each time a form is submitted. We keep submissions, including ones we decline, until you ask us to delete yours.
- We do not have user accounts. We don’t set cookies ourselves, apart from Google Analytics cookies described below.
Form submissions are stored in our database and held for review. Nothing is published until we approve it.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed, which outbound links (including affiliate links) and listing phone numbers are clicked, how the nearby search is used, and which forms are submitted. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information like your device, browser, approximate location and pages visited. Google processes this data under its own policies; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Affiliate links
Some links are affiliate links: Amazon (as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases), RVshare (through the CJ affiliate network) and Harvest Hosts (through the Awin affiliate network). If you click one, Amazon, RVshare, Harvest Hosts, CJ or Awin may set cookies to record that you came from this site, so we can be credited for a purchase or booking. These third parties, including Amazon, may serve content, collect information directly from you, and place or recognize cookies on your browser. Their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies. See our affiliate disclosure.
Your location
If you use Use my location in the nearby search, your browser asks your permission first. If you allow it, the coordinates your browser provides, which can be precise, are sent to our search server to find places near you. Our server uses them only for that search and doesn’t log or store them; our hosting providers (see below) handle the request to deliver it.
Maps and hosting
Maps load map tiles from OpenStreetMap and OpenFreeMap, so your browser sends requests to their servers when you view a map. The site is served through Cloudflare and Render, which process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
How we use information
To run and improve the directory, review and moderate submissions, reply to owners and people who suggest listings, and keep the site secure.

Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut or Virginia), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information or its use for targeted advertising. We don’t sell or rent the information you give us, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising. Google Analytics and our affiliate partners collect some data through their own cookies, as described above. To make a request, email jeff@rdotcom.com from the email address you used in your review, claim or suggestion. We don’t have user accounts, so we verify requests by confirming them with that email address. If you left a review without an email address, tell us the listing, the name you used and about when you posted it. We’ll respond within 45 days, and we won’t treat you differently for asking.
How long we keep information
- Reviews, owner claims, edit requests and listing suggestions, including ones we decline, with the IP hash (and, for reviews, the browser user-agent) stored with them: until you ask us to delete yours.
- Rate-limit records (an IP hash and the time of each submission): records older than 24 hours are deleted automatically each time a form is submitted.
- Emails you send us at jeff@rdotcom.com: kept in our email account until we delete them.
- Google Analytics: Google Analytics keeps event data for 2 months and user-level data for up to 14 months after a visitor’s last activity. Google also handles this data under its own policies.
- Our search server doesn’t keep request logs. Cloudflare and Render keep their own technical logs, which can include IP addresses, under their own retention policies.
Children
This site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
