Medford local guide
Medford is the hub of Oregon's Rogue Valley, strung along I-5 between Ashland and Grants Pass. State Route 62 runs northeast through White City, Eagle Point and Shady Cove toward Lost Creek Lake and Crater Lake, following the Rogue River, which draws most of the valley's rafters and drift boats. Storage clusters on that corridor and along I-5: Central Point and White City on the north side, Phoenix at Exit 24 to the south.
Most local RV storage is open or covered parking rather than enclosed units. Airway RV & Boat Storage on East Vilas Road has new covered 14x40-foot pull-through spaces and a free dump station, and Hardcastle's in Central Point publishes length-based rates from $55 a month for rigs up to 25 feet to $80 for 41 to 60 feet. White City Boat & Mini Storage adds power outlets and its own dump station. Summers are hot and dry in the valley, so covered parking helps protect roofs, tires and paint from the sun.
Lost Creek Lake, northeast of Shady Cove, is the main powerboat water. Jackson County's Joseph H. Stewart Marina there rents slips by the night, month or year, offers dry moorage for trailers and rents pontoons and fishing boats in season; its 2026 season ended September 7. For moving water, Shady Cove and Gold Hill outfitters rent rafts and inflatable kayaks for the Rogue, most from mid-May through mid-September. Emigrant Lake near Ashland is closer to town, but its county paddleboard and kayak rentals are closed for the 2026 season.
Oregon requires a Waterway Access Permit for every nonmotorized boat, including kayaks, rafts and paddleboards of any length; a one-year permit is $20 from the Marine Board. Motorboats need Oregon registration, and out-of-state motorboats also need a $30 aquatic invasive species permit or face a $115 fine. Anyone transporting a boat, motorized or not, must stop at any open boat inspection station.
Across our three Medford guides we currently list 7 storage facilities, 3 RV dump stations, 9 named boat launches and 5 boat rental businesses, plus 1 marina. Storage details come from each facility’s own website and the date we checked it. Dump stations and ramps come from OpenStreetMap.
