Bend local guide
Bend sits on the Deschutes River in Central Oregon, and the Cascade Lakes Highway west of town leads to mountain lakes such as Elk Lake and Cultus Lake, where lakeside resorts rent pontoon boats, paddle boards and kayaks in season. Some Cascade lakes set motorboat speed limits, so check the rules for the lake you plan to use. Trailer-delivered rentals in the area also serve Lake Billy Chinook, Prineville Reservoir, Sunriver and La Pine.
Winters bring snow and freezing nights, which is why several Bend facilities advertise fully enclosed, insulated or heated units and power outlets for keeping batteries charged. Published monthly rates for enclosed 40 to 50 foot units at the facilities listed here run from $425 to $475, so call ahead, as some keep a waiting list or require a one-year minimum.
Street parking isn't long-term storage in Bend. Under the city's parking code, in effect since Jan. 1, 2026, trailers, campers and other non-motorized vehicles can't stay on streets or in public lots for more than 72 hours unless attached to a motorized vehicle, and RVs with slide-outs can't block sidewalks or travel lanes.
Boating in Oregon: out-of-state motorboats need a $30 Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Permit from the Oregon State Marine Board and must stop at boat inspection stations. Kayaks, rafts, paddleboards and other non-motorized boats need a Waterway Access Permit, which costs $6 for a week, $20 for a calendar year or $35 for two years; children 13 and younger are exempt.
Across our three Bend guides we currently list 4 storage facilities, 1 RV dump station, 2 named boat launches and 3 boat rental businesses. Storage details come from each facility’s own website and the date we checked it. Dump stations and ramps come from OpenStreetMap. We never add prices, ratings or availability that a source does not publish.
