Santa Fe local guide
Santa Fe's storage lots cluster on the southwest side, near the airport, NM 599 and Highway 14, which is also the direction you'll tow toward I-25 and Cochiti Lake. Around the Corner Self Storage's Airport 599 lot on Crouch Court has covered, paved spaces 12 feet wide for rigs 20 to 40 feet long, with electricity, and its outdoor lot at I-25 and 599 on Erica Road takes rigs up to 50 feet. Santa Fe Executive RV Storage on Highway 14 adds covered parking with electric hookups and its own dump and water station. Closer to town, St. Michael's Self Storage on Aspen Drive and Santa Fe Self Storage on Agua Fria Street both have fenced RV and boat parking with a manager on site.
The nearest big launch is Cochiti Lake, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir southwest of the city. Its west-side Cochiti ramp is open year-round with four concrete lanes, a rigging area and a courtesy dock, and the east-side Tetilla ramp opens for the recreation season. Both charge a $5 day-use fee, or $40 for an annual pass. Cochiti is a no-wake lake, so plan on fishing, slow cruising or paddling rather than skiing or wakeboarding, and hilltop wind-warning lights flash when it's time to get off the water.
New Mexico boats must be registered with the state Motor Vehicle Division according to size and type. The Department of Game and Fish requires an inspection, and decontamination if needed, for out-of-state boats and boats coming back into New Mexico, and every boat must stop whenever an inspection station is operating. Owners of boats 26 feet or longer must give 14 days' notice before bringing them into the state, and everyone must pull the drain plug while trailering.
Juniper Campground at Cochiti has a dump station, listed below from OpenStreetMap, and Santa Fe Executive RV Storage has one for its tenants. For river trips, Santa Fe Rafting Co. rents whitewater rafting gear for self-guided runs on the Rio Grande. The boat ramps below are the public slipways mapped in OpenStreetMap within about 25 miles of Santa Fe, mostly around Cochiti Lake.
Across our three Santa Fe guides we currently list 5 storage facilities, 1 RV dump station, 1 named boat launch and 1 boat rental business. Storage details come from each facility’s own website and the date we checked it. Dump stations and ramps come from OpenStreetMap. We never add prices, ratings or availability that a source does not publish.
