Colorado Springs local guide
Colorado Springs boaters drive to their water. Lake Pueblo State Park is the big motorboat lake, about an hour south on I-25, and Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain reservoirs sit up US-24 past Woodland Park in South Park. Campers head the same directions or over Ute Pass into the mountains. Storage here clusters along those routes: Fillmore Covered RV Storage is just off I-25 north of downtown, Platte Indoor Mega Storage and Maximum Storage are on the east side, and Bluebird RV Storage is out on Vollmer Place in the northeast.
Covered, enclosed or outdoor: what Colorado Springs facilities offer
Fillmore Covered RV Storage publishes a full price ladder for covered spaces: $195 a month for 12x20, $205 for 12x25, $275 for 12x30, $295 for 12x40, $305 for 12x45 and $350 for a 12x60 drive-through. Its uncovered 12x20 spaces rent for $100. The site also lists a free RV dump.
For a fully enclosed garage, Platte Indoor Mega Storage lists 14x30 units with 16-foot ceilings at $440 a month, 14x50 pull-through units at $735 and 14x60 units at $840. Doors are 12 by 14 feet, and 20- or 30-amp electricity is included, so you can keep batteries charged and run a dehumidifier. Maximum Storage on Woolsey Heights also advertises fully enclosed RV and boat parking along with covered parking; call for rates.
Uncovered parking is the budget option. Bluebird RV Storage rents open RV and boat spaces in the northeast and includes use of its dump station and non-potable rinse water in the monthly fee. Expect snow on your rig several times a winter if you park in the open.
Access hours and security
Fillmore advertises 24/7 access, which suits early starts for Lake Pueblo. Bluebird runs 24-hour video surveillance. Platte Indoor Mega Storage keeps office hours Monday through Saturday from 9 to 5; ask about after-hours gate access when you sign up. In winter, also ask whether the drive aisles are plowed, since a snowbound lot can keep you from leaving even when the gate is open.
Parking an RV or boat at home in Colorado Springs
Street parking is tightly limited by City Code Section 10.25.102. Subsection (A)(6) bars parking a vehicle in the same place, or within 100 feet of it, for 72 continuous hours. Subsection (A)(12) goes further for recreational vehicles: leaving one on a street or public place for longer than needed to expeditiously load or unload it is unlawful. Subsection (C) makes clear that trailers and camper trailers count as vehicles, and Section 10.25.101(X) allows RVs parked in violation to be impounded. Driveway and side-yard storage on private lots falls under zoning and HOA rules, and many HOA covenants prohibit visible RVs and boats.
High-altitude weather and what it means for storage
Colorado Springs is the coldest city in this batch by a wide margin. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Colorado Springs Municipal Airport show a January average high of 45.0°F and low of 18.5°F, about 160 nights a year at or below freezing and about 21 days when the temperature never climbs above freezing. Snow averages 32.5 inches a year, while total precipitation is only 15.91 inches. Summers are mild, with a July average high of 86.5°F and about 23 days at 90°F or warmer. Winterizing is not optional here: blow out or antifreeze water lines before the first hard freeze, keep batteries on a maintainer, and brush heavy snow off awnings and boat covers before it loads them. Colorado Parks and Wildlife handles boat registration and runs the aquatic nuisance species inspections required at many state waters; see its boating page before you tow.
Across our three Colorado Springs guides we currently list 4 storage facilities, 3 RV dump stations. Storage details come from each facility’s own website and the date we checked it. Dump stations and ramps come from OpenStreetMap. We never add prices, ratings or availability that a source does not publish.
