Kalispell is the commercial center of Montana's Flathead Valley, where US-93 and US-2 cross. the north shore of Flathead Lake is a short drive south at Somers, Whitefish Lake sits to the north, and the Flathead River runs east of town toward Bigfork. Storage follows those highways: Barkley Ridge off US-93 north has both outdoor and enclosed options, Highway 2 has yards west and east of town, and Somers and the US-93 corridor toward Whitefish fill in the rest.
Winters here are long, so much of the local stock is built for snow. Stillwater, Safe Harbor in Somers and Glacier RV & Mini Storage in Columbia Falls offer enclosed or heated units, Blue Knight and Northshore have covered pull-through spaces, and Park IT on US-93 posts prices from a 20-foot open spot to a 50-foot covered space with a door and power. Several boat shops, including Clark Marine Center and Flathead Mobile Marine, bundle winterization and shrink-wrap with storage.
On the water, Flathead Harbor at Lakeside rents 86 slips for boats up to 40 feet, Eagle Bend Yacht Harbor near Bigfork is an owner-run harbor reached by canal from the Flathead River, and rental fleets operate out of Bigfork, Somers, Lakeside and Woods Bay.
Montana requires every watercraft to be inspected before launching, and boats used outside the Flathead Basin must be inspected before launching on Flathead waters. Anyone hauling a boat must stop at every open inspection station. Nonresident boats also need a Vessel Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Pass from FWP, $30 for motorized craft or $10 for nonmotorized, valid through December 31. Wake boats with ballast tanks must be decontaminated before launching.
