Anchorage local guide

Anchorage boaters trailer out of town for most of their water time: south on the Seward Highway to Whittier and Prince William Sound or to Seward and the Kenai River, or north on the Glenn Highway toward Big Lake and the Mat-Su. Eagle River RV & Boat Storage sits just off the Glenn Highway, 15 minutes from Anchorage, and Alaska Recreational Storage is in midtown under three miles from the airport.

Winter is the defining factor. Boats come out of the water in September and October, and Eagle River's site says outdoor spaces fill fast then; it recommends winterizing the engine and using a peaked cover or shrink wrap so snow sheds. All three facilities listed here are outdoor yards, so plan on a snow-ready cover. Published rates at Eagle River run $135 to $189 a month.

Boating in Alaska: boats are registered with the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles, and the state's Office of Boating Safety offers boater education. Ramps and dump stations below come from OpenStreetMap; we haven't verified a boat rental company in Anchorage itself yet.

Across our three Anchorage guides we currently list 3 storage facilities, 6 RV dump stations, 3 named boat launches and 0 boat rental businesses. Storage details come from each facility’s own website and the date we checked it. Dump stations and ramps come from OpenStreetMap. We never add prices, ratings or availability that a source does not publish.
