San Antonio local guide
San Antonio boaters spread out in three directions. Canyon Lake sits north of the city off US-281 and FM 306, Medina Lake lies to the northwest past Helotes and Castroville, and the two power-plant reservoirs, Braunig and Calaveras, are a short tow southeast of Loop 410. Storage on this page follows the same map: Bettis Boat & RV Storage is on US-181 near Braunig and Calaveras, Parkway Boat & RV Storage is on Wurzbach Parkway by the airport, RecNation runs lots in Selma on the I-35 side and in Boerne off I-10, and San Antonio RV & Boat Storage is out in Rio Medina on the Medina Lake side.
Covered, enclosed or outdoor: what San Antonio facilities offer
Open lots are still the cheapest way to park a rig here, and the spread is wide. San Antonio RV & Boat Storage publishes open-air rates of $40 a month for a 12.5x20 space, $47.50 for 12.5x30 and $64.50 for 12.5x45. RecNation's Boerne lot lists 13x45 outdoor spaces from $131, and Parkway rents uncovered spaces up to 13x55, long enough for most fifth wheels with a tow vehicle.
Covered parking is the middle tier. The Rio Medina facility lists covered 12.5x35 at $95, 12.5x40 at $100 and 12.5x45 at $112.50, and every covered space there includes a 20-amp battery maintainer. RecNation shows covered 12x50 spaces in Boerne from $270, while Parkway offers covered spaces from 12.5x30 to 13x45 but does not post prices online.
For a fully enclosed garage, Bettis Boat & RV Storage is the most transparent. All of its units are 16 feet tall with electricity and LED lighting, and published rates run $185 to $200 for a 12x30, $210 to $225 for a 12x40 and $320 to $335 for a 15x50. RecNation Selma lists indoor 12x45 units from $245, and Parkway's enclosed units range from 12x30 to 14x50.
Access hours and security
Bettis gives renters 24/7 keypad access, keeps its office open Monday to Friday from 8 to 5, and has driveways up to 73 feet for swinging a long trailer into a unit. Parkway runs a 24/7 gate with office hours Monday to Friday from 10 to 4 and keeps a dump station on site. San Antonio RV & Boat Storage pairs 24-hour card access with an office open Monday to Saturday from 8 to 5, and adds a black and grey water dump, an air station and 70-foot driveways. RecNation's Boerne lot also has an on-site dump station. Always confirm gate hours before a predawn launch, because the office and the gate often keep different schedules.
Parking an RV or boat at home in San Antonio
The City of San Antonio's vehicle responsibilities page sums up the rules code officers enforce. Vehicles must be parked on an improved surface; the rear yard is the exception and does not need surfacing, but an unimproved front or side yard is not allowed. Oversized vehicles may not be parked permanently in a residential district, and recreational vehicles must stay out of the restricted area within 15 feet of the curb or street line. The page cites City Code Section 19-134 and Unified Development Code Section 35-383 for these rules. Homeowner association deed restrictions in many newer subdivisions on the North Side are often tighter than city code, so check yours before parking a boat beside the house.
San Antonio heat and what it means for storage
NOAA's 1991-2020 climate normals for San Antonio International Airport put the average high at 94.9°F in July and 96.0°F in August. The airport averages about 122 days a year at 90°F or hotter and about 18 days at 100°F or more. Freezes are short but real, with about 14 nights a year at or below 32°F, and snow averages just 0.2 inch. Rain totals 32.38 inches a year, and May is the wettest month at 4.40 inches. In practice that means shade and battery care for most of the year, plus a quick plan for draining water lines when a hard freeze is forecast. Covered or enclosed space pays off mainly against summer sun on roofs, tires and gelcoat. NOAA climate normals
Ramps, rentals and other Texas cities
Our San Antonio boat ramps page maps the slipways and kayak launches OpenStreetMap shows within about 40 km of downtown; mapping is thin here, so treat it as a starting point rather than a complete list. To empty tanks before a trip, see San Antonio RV dump stations, and compare storage in Austin, Dallas, Houston and other cities on our Texas hub.
Texas Parks and Wildlife handles boat registration and the state boating rules, including boater education for younger operators. Lake operators post ramp closures, so check before you hitch up for a long tow to Canyon or Medina Lake.
Across our three San Antonio guides we currently list 5 storage facilities, 2 RV dump stations, 6 named boat launches and 0 boat rental businesses. Storage details come from each facility’s own website and the date we checked it. Dump stations and ramps come from OpenStreetMap. We never add prices, ratings or availability that a source does not publish.
