Detroit's boating water is Lake St. Clair, the shallow lake between the Detroit River and the St. Clair River, which most metro boaters reach from the Macomb County shore in St. Clair Shores, Harrison Township and the Anchor Bay communities to the north. The storage here follows that shoreline: the City of St. Clair Shores' winter lot at Lac Ste. Claire Harbor on Jefferson, Macomb RV Storage on 23 Mile Road in Macomb Township, and Northpointe Storage in Casco Township, under five miles from the lake and off I-94.
Michigan's season is short, and storage here is mostly about winter. St. Clair Shores rents spaces on a fenced, locked lot from October 15 to April 15 for a flat $350 up to 24 feet or $450 for 25 to 40 feet, and owners shrink-wrap their own boats. Macomb RV Storage holds 727 outdoor spaces on 12 acres with 24-hour access. Northpointe offers angled outdoor spaces up to 50 feet with a free RV dump station, city water and compressed air, and heated indoor units at its Ira Township building for boats that need to stay out of the snow.
Renters can take out pontoons from Platinum Pontoon in St. Clair Shores, which rents by the hour with a four-hour minimum, or tritoons from Lake St. Clair Boat Rentals on Anchor Bay, open May through October.
