Indianapolis local guide

Indianapolis boaters mostly use the reservoirs on the city's northeast side: Geist Reservoir on Fall Creek and Morse Reservoir further north at Noblesville, both with marinas that rent pontoons and store boats over the winter. Eagle Creek Reservoir on the northwest side is mostly paddling and small boats. Guardian RV Storage, near Pendleton Pike and I-465, says it is about ten minutes from Geist.

Central Indiana freezes hard from November to March, which shapes storage here. Marinas sell season-long winter storage: Geist Marina's 2026 rates are $1,600 inside or $950 to $1,195 outside with shrink wrap, plus required winterization and spring launch fees. Both marinas say their inside barn is unheated, so winterize anyway. For RVs, Guardian offers heated indoor bays, which it says can replace full winterization.

Boating in Indiana: boats are registered through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and the Indiana DNR sets boating rules; operators 15 and older without a valid driver's license must complete a boater education course. Ramps and dump stations below come from OpenStreetMap.

Across our three Indianapolis guides we currently list 3 storage facilities, 5 named boat launches and 4 boat rental businesses.
