Hyannis is the Cape's commercial center, on Nantucket Sound with Lewis Bay and the island ferries right downtown, and boats here run the Sound, Cape Cod Bay and the Cape Cod Canal. The three storage options spread up the Cape: U-Haul on Bearses Way in Hyannis near Route 6, Cape Cod Climate Controlled Storage on Falmouth Road in Mashpee, and Canal Mini-Storage on Cranberry Highway in Sagamore, just off the Cape side of the Sagamore Bridge.

U-Haul's Hyannis site has RV, boat and vehicle storage inside a gated perimeter with 24-hour access available, and the Mashpee facility adds outdoor RV and boat storage to its climate-controlled units.

Boating in Massachusetts: motorboats are registered through the Massachusetts Environmental Police, and under the Hanson-Milone Boater Safety Act, motorboat operators born after January 1, 1989 have needed a boater safety certificate since April 1, 2026, with everyone else required by April 1, 2028.
