Atlanta local guide
Atlanta proper is short on both lakes and storage lots, so most owners tow out of town. Lake Lanier lies northeast up I-985, Lake Allatoona sits off I-75 to the northwest, and the Chattahoochee River runs along the city's northwest edge. Inside the city, RV and boat parking is scattered: ATL Truck Parking is on Moreland Avenue on the southeast side, Brookhaven Storage is on Apple Valley Road in the 30319 ZIP code near Brookhaven, and Public Storage is on South Cobb Drive on the Cobb County side of the metro.
Covered, enclosed or outdoor: what Atlanta facilities offer
Open-lot parking for long rigs is rare inside I-285. ATL Truck Parking rents 12x53 trailer and RV spaces for $260 per 30 days, long enough for a big fifth wheel or a Class A with a toad. Public Storage on South Cobb Drive lists uncovered 10x30 parking for an RV, boat or vehicle at $151 a month online, against $201 in-store, plus a one-time $29 admin fee. A 10x30 space suits a bass boat or a small travel trailer, not a 35-foot motorhome.
For enclosed space, Public Storage also lists 10x30 units at $215 a month online. Brookhaven Storage offers boat and RV storage alongside drive-up units priced on its site at $250 for a 10x25, $335 for a 10x30, $380 for a 10x35 and $575 for a 20x30. Confirm door height before booking, since many drive-up units are designed for cars and small boats rather than motorhomes.
We did not find a covered (roof-only) RV canopy inside the city limits. Owners who want covered parking will likely need to look at suburban lots; our Buford page covers the Lake Lanier side.
Access hours and security
ATL Truck Parking runs a gated, monitored lot open 24/7, useful for anyone who leaves before dawn. Brookhaven Storage limits access to 6 AM through 9 PM daily. Public Storage sets gate hours by location, so check the listing for this facility before an early start. Wherever you park, a wheel lock or hitch lock and a photo of the rig on drop-off are cheap insurance.
Parking an RV or boat at home in Atlanta
Atlanta regulates where boats, campers and travel trailers may be parked or stored on residential property through the zoning part of its Code of Ordinances, hosted on Municode. We could not load the current text directly when we checked, so we are not quoting or summarizing it here. Before parking a camper or boat at home, read the code yourself or ask the city's zoning staff. Neighboring cities such as Brookhaven, Sandy Springs and Smyrna have separate codes.
Atlanta weather and what it means for storage
NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport show a July average high of 90.1°F and about 47 days a year at 90°F or warmer. January averages 54.0°F by day and 35.6°F at night, and the airport averages about 36 nights a year at or below freezing, with roughly 2.2 inches of snow. Annual precipitation is a generous 50.43 inches. The combination of humid summers, frequent rain and short hard freezes means owners should keep covers tight, crack a roof vent, run a dehumidifier in enclosed units and drain water lines when a freeze is forecast. Ramps, rentals and other Georgia cities
Our Atlanta boat ramps page lists the slipways OpenStreetMap shows within about 40 km of downtown that are not already listed on another city's page; Chattahoochee River launches such as Morgan Falls and Azalea appear on our Buford pages. OpenStreetMap shows no public RV dump station close enough to list for Atlanta, so plan to empty tanks at a campground or a storage lot that offers one. Compare Buford near Lake Lanier on our Georgia hub.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division publishes the state's boating rules and education requirements.
Across our three Atlanta guides we currently list 7 storage facilities, 1 RV dump station, 2 named boat launches and 3 boat rental businesses. Storage details come from each facility’s own website and the date we checked it. Dump stations and ramps come from OpenStreetMap. We never add prices, ratings or availability that a source does not publish.
