Tampa local guide
Tampa sits at the head of Tampa Bay, with the Hillsborough River running through downtown and the Gulf beaches a short drive west across the bay. Courtney Campbell Causeway and Rocky Point are the busy launch and rental areas on the Old Tampa Bay side; Secure Storage in Town 'N' Country advertises itself as close to the Causeway ramp and offers water to flush engines after a saltwater run. Journey USA RV's lot is near the I-4/I-75 junction by the fairgrounds, a handy base for RVers heading inland.
Florida storage is about sun, salt and storms rather than snow. Rinse trailers and flush outboards after every saltwater trip, and plan ahead for hurricane season (June through November), when many owners move rigs away from the coast. Covered space is scarce: Journey USA says all of its storage is uncovered, and Secure Storage notes covered spots are limited. Journey publishes rates from $145 a month for rigs up to 30 feet to $225 for 46 feet and longer.
Boating in Florida: boats are registered through the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles county tax collector offices, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission requires boater education for operators born on or after January 1, 1988. Watch for manatee slow-speed zones in the bay. Ramps and dump stations below come from OpenStreetMap.
Across our three Tampa guides we currently list 3 storage facilities, 11 RV dump stations, 19 named boat launches and 15 boat rental businesses. Storage details come from each facility’s own website and the date we checked it. Dump stations and ramps come from OpenStreetMap. We never add prices, ratings or availability that a source does not publish.
